We’ve reached 100 posts. Over this journey, I’ve shared the technical nuances, the business strategies, and the cultural history of the music I love. But ultimately, all of this—the gear, the grants, the EQs—is just a means to an end. We are all in pursuit of that one thing: The Perfect Groove. That elusive moment where the music, the room, and the people become one. It is a lifelong pursuit, and it is the greatest privilege of my life to be part of it.
The Groove is a Feeling, Not a Calculation
You can't program a perfect groove. You can only facilitate it. It’s found in the swing of a hi-hat that is just slightly off-grid. It’s found in the "space" between the bass notes. It’s found in the human intuition of a DJ who knows exactly when to let a track play. The perfect groove is an expression of our human heartbeat—it’s the "soul" that we try to capture in our machines. It is the fundamental energy of the universe, translated into 4/4 time.
The Responsibility of the Artist
As we close this series, I want to remind you of your responsibility as an artist. You are a storyteller. you are a healer. You are a curator of human experience. Use your skills to lift people up, to challenge the status quo, and to build a more inclusive and soul-driven world. The music we make today is the history of tomorrow. Make it count. Make it deep. Make it meaningful.
The Journey Continues
This may be the 100th post, but it is not the end. The scene in BC and beyond is constantly evolving, and I will continue to be here—digging for records, pushing the boundaries of production, and holding space on the dancefloor. Thank you for being part of this community. Thank you for listening. Keep digging, keep dancing, and never stop pursuing the groove. The lineage continues, and the future is deep. See you on the floor.
